How many times do we rely on fads or advertisements at Christmas time and birthdays to find a game for our families? There are so many games out there that the idea of shopping for one can be overwhelming. If you have done any shopping at Mastermind Toys or Toys R Us, you have seen firsthand how many options there are. The thought of narrowing down the options can seem daunting. Breakthroughs has something for you! We have compiled a list of our most valued games up to this point. We have incorporated these games into our Individualized Brain Development Programs.
As a child, Mrs. Turton, our founder and director, looked forward to Family Night which usually included lots of laughs, games and of course popcorn! Most of the games in our free GAME GUIDE can be fun for children as well as adults. We've listed the brain skills each game develops so you can tailor the fun to your child's needs. Thinking back to when I was a child, I certainly had no idea that when we were playing games like Crokinole, we were actually developing eye hand co-ordination, and when we played Rook, we were exercising the area of my brain that helps to organize thoughts.
Some of the activities only take 5 minutes, so you can play them together, even on a school night! Carefully chosen games, played at a level where everyone is enjoying themselves, can provide a great family bonding experience, as well as be a self-confidence builder. You can choose to develop listening comprehension, short term memory, organizational skills and more!
