Testimonials

  • My son’s reading was a couple of years behind. He was starting to bully other students. After working at Breakthroughs, he now enjoys reading and is doing so on grade level. His school reports that he has become a positive leader with his peers.
  • I home schooled my son, but no matter what I did, he didn’t seem to be able to read. His assessment at Breakthroughs indicated he had “jumpy” eyes and memory problems. I knew he was a bright child but we were both feeling very frustrated. Today, he is reading on his own and is almost caught up to his age group even though we were three years behind when we started.
  • My daughter was in grade one when we started at Breakthroughs. She attended JK at Kidsability, then SK and grade one in the public system. She still could not count and had no idea what numbers were. Today, after only one hour a week for 8 months, my daughter can usually count to 20 and now understands what numbers are. Her speech was extremely difficult to understand and now other children are starting to know what she is saying. Thank you Breakthroughs!
  • My son hated homework and most evenings were tense. Now he can do his work so much faster so we don’t have big discussions over homework.
  • My son was uncooperative in school and at home. He had repeated grade three once and he was getting very little school work accomplished in grade four The private school he attended insisted we get help. A local counselor recommended Breakthroughs. As parents we noticed a breakthrough in his attitude before the school did. But they now see a big improvement as well.
  • I was in grade twelve and finding the courses overwhelming. I needed help with my comprehension, organization and memories. I’ve graduated and I’m very thankful for the benefits Breakthrough provided. My future possibilities are wide open now.
  • My daughter didn’t understand what she read. Her spelling was very poor and she was very slow to get her work done. She procrastinated daily. Now, she actually works ahead on her math and we don’t have “daily discussions” about her being so far behind. She reads and comprehends much better and her spelling is starting to come along as well.
  • When our son was in JK we were told that he would likely need to repeat SK. Thanks to the help from Breakthroughs, he passed SK and started reading on time.
  • Our son was poorly coordinated physically. By grade 7 & 8 he started losing his friends because they were getting involved in sports. He hated sports and wanted nothing to do with them. He had difficulty running in a straight line. After we had a Breakthroughs assessment, the school assessed him as well. Teachers thought he was lazy, but the assessments proved otherwise. The school board arranged for him to have a special computer program he spoke into. With the work at Breakthroughs our son gradually realized he was not lazy or stupid. The developmental work enabled him to become part of a rugby and football team in high school. His academics have consistently gotten better and better. He’s so much happier!
  • My son had a hard time focusing on any work. He was clever and creative. He was overactive and in trouble at school often. He was really getting behind academically. He had a lot of trouble printing. We were frequently repeating requests. Needless to say, we were all frustrated. He’s made improvements in all of these areas and I look forward to coming home after work to see and spend time with him.
  • We just received my sons report card and it is the best one he has got in 6 years! After we started educational therapy, Pauline came to a school conference with me. I came out of there feeling very hopeful.
  • Grade One came and went and James still couldn’t read, print or remember simple ideas. But he attended Breakthroughs summer program which kick started some of these abilities into working condition. He continued on with Educational therapy and made 18 months of progress in only 8 months.
  • “I’ve seen children who were barely able to cope in the classroom begin to succeed and grow in confidence after taking part in the Breakthroughs program.” Grade one/two teacher
  • My son’s teacher’s response was ‘I don’t know what you are doing, but keep doing it!’
  • “I have confidence in Breakthroughs’ ability to assess learning and behavior difficulties, and their insightful capacity to create an effective developmental program specially made for the student.” Principal of Christian school
  • My daughter hated school in grade three and her grades reflected that. Today, her teachers aren’t aware she had any problems.
  • My daughter was struggling in grade one. Her self-esteem was taking a beating. Even after her first session she said she “felt better”. She’s a confident learner now.
  • My son had difficulty relating to other children. Thanks to the skills and socializing he developed at Breakthroughs, he has become more successful academically and socially.
  • We came from South America and our daughter started grade one without knowing any English. She attended ESL classes and went to a tutoring center for a year. She did not progress. Her ESL teacher suggested Breakthroughs. Her speaking, writing and reading have all moved ahead a lot. Her ESL teacher was even surprised.
  • Our son repeated grade one but started experiencing trouble again in grade two. He seemed sad a lot and didn’t talk much. I see such an improvement in his reading, math and confidence today since having him in the Breakthroughs program.
  • Coming to Breakthroughs had enabled me to speak up for myself for the first time in my life!
